Dr. Marsh's office is wonderful. I love going in for his services. The staff is friendly and very professional. Lacy (the dental hygienist...aka the cleaning lady) is so gentle and has a wonderful sense of humor. I would recommend them to anyone, especially if you don't like going to the dentist. They will put your mind and fears at ease.

Emergency Dental Services We Offer

There are many different types of dental emergencies including toothache, physical injury, or gum pain. Regardless of your oral issue, Dr. Marsh and his team can provide many different services to alleviate the pain you are dealing with. Our goal is to restore your dental health and help you continue your life without oral pain.

Our services include:

  • Toothache relief. We have met many patients who ignored or didn't realize the early signs of a toothache. Toothaches are often the symptom of a larger issue that needs treatment as soon as possible. Over-the-counter medications can provide some relief, but this is only a temporary solution. If you're experiencing a toothache, we can help treat the cause of the issue and provide permanent relief.
  • Jaw swelling reduction. Dental health is much more than just the teeth and gums. It also includes the jawbone and surrounding tissue, and they're a critical support system for your oral health. If your jaw is swelling, it could be a sign of an infection that can spread across the jawbone and into the nearby tissue. To manage your oral health, this issue needs to be quickly and efficiently identified and treated.
  • Gum pain. Dr. Marsh and his team can provide relief for gum pain. Typically, this is a sign that there's an issue with the gums in the deeper tissue. We can find the root of the issue and provide relief.
  • Root canals. A root canal is a procedure that can save teeth that are decayed or damaged. In several cases, the tooth that qualifies for a root canal had a filling or crown in the past. Root canals attempt to restore the connection between the tooth and root in the jawbone. When the connection is damaged, it causes pain and causes the tooth to decay. Root canals also prevent the need to extract the tooth.
  • Avulsed and damaged tooth care. This is also known as a “knockout.” Avulsed and damaged teeth are usually caused by a physical injury such as a sports injury or car accident. If a tooth is knocked out, it's recommended to seek dental care immediately so a dentist can examine the socket area. This is to ensure there is no additional damage to the area. Sometimes, the damaged tooth can be saved and restored. Other damage to the tooth includes breaks, chips, and cracks. No situation is the same, so seeking a professional examination is recommended to ensure the best care.
  • Extractions. If one or more teeth are severely damaged or decayed, an infection can spread to your other teeth. In this case, you should consider a full removal of the tooth or teeth. Extractions help prevent infection in your other teeth and can provide instant pain relief.
  • Filling and crown repair. Fillings and crowns are important for protecting teeth that have received dental work in the past. While these solutions are made to fit your teeth, sometimes they can come loose and fall out. It is important to have crowns and fillings repaired or replaced as soon as you can to avoid further damage.

How to Prevent Dental Emergencies

Dental emergencies can cause immense pain and stress. Not every emergency is avoidable, but many can be prevented with proper dental care. This starts at the home by maintaining a regular schedule of brushing and flossing. This can help protect your teeth and gums from damage.

It is also recommended to visit Piedmont Smiles every six months. This will allow our staff to provide our expert services to you and monitor your oral health. By visiting regularly, Dr. Marsh can catch minor issues and correct them before they become more intense.
