The staff was very accommodating and patient with a child that had severe anxiety and could not be still for a root canal. Dr. He was amazing as well as her assistant. Other dentists/endodontists could not be bothered and did not care. I am very happy with our experience. 5 stars!

We moved to Florida 6 years ago and we needed to get our teeth cleaned. We are so happy we chose Coastal Dental on Dr. Martin Luther King St. N. “Gentle Gina” cleaned my teeth and she was wonderful. So, if you are new to Florida or a Snow Bird and need dental work, I highly recommend this dental office!

Dental Emergency Services We Offer

There are several different dental emergencies we can treat. You may be dealing with a consistent toothache that continues to get worse, or you may have taken a hit to the face resulting in an avulsed tooth. No matter what caused your situation, Dr. Gardner and the rest of our team can help treat several dental emergencies, which can provide relief and ensure your oral health is maintained.

Our services include the following:

  • Toothache Relief - We've met many patients in the past who were unaware of the early signs of a toothache. This can lead to more difficult and extensive issues, as toothaches are usually a symptom of a larger problem that needs to be addressed. Over-the-counter medications can provide temporary relief but should not be relied on as a permanent fix. If you have a toothache that won't go away, we can find the source of your pain and provide permanent relief.
  • Jaw Swelling Reduction - Dental health involves more than just your teeth and gums. Your jawbone and surrounding tissue are critical support systems for your teeth. If you notice swelling in your jaw, the cause may be an infection that may spread along the bone and into neighboring tissue. You need a professional to find the source of the infection and treat it immediately to preserve your dental health.
  • Gum Pain - If you're experiencing gum pain, Dr. Gardner and his team can provide permanent relief. Gum pain is sometimes a sign of a problem in the deeper tissue of the gums. We can help you find the source of the problem and provide the service necessary to relieve the pain.
  • Root Canals - Root canals may be necessary for saving a tooth that is severely decayed or damaged. For many patients, the tooth in question previously needed a crown or filling. This procedure aims to restore the connection between the tooth and the root, which relieves the pain and preserves the tooth. This also prevents the tooth from needing extraction.
  • Avulsed and Damaged Tooth Care - This is also referred to as a “knockout.” This situation occurs after a car accident or sports injury. When a tooth is knocked out, you should seek dental care immediately so a dentist can examine the socket area and ensure there are no other issues. In certain cases, the avulsed tooth can be saved and restored. Other dental damage, such as chips, breaks, and cracks, can also occur from injuries.
  • Extractions - An infection could spread throughout your mouth if one or more of your teeth are severely damaged or decayed. An extraction may be required to prevent this. Each situation is different from the rest, and each requires a professional examination to determine the best path forward.
  • Filling and Crown Repair - Fillings and crowns are designed to protect teeth that have previously needed dental work. While these are made specifically to fit your teeth, they can sometimes fall out. If this happens, be sure to replace or repair them as soon as you can to prevent further damage to your teeth.

Avoiding Dental Emergencies

Dental emergencies can be painful and taxing to deal with. Not every emergency can be prevented, but with proper dental care, you can lessen the odds of having an emergency. Regularly brushing and flossing your teeth at home can protect your teeth and gums and prevent many different emergencies.

Scheduling regular six-month appointments with us at Coast Dental St. Petersburg is also recommended. In doing so, our staff can provide expert cleaning services while monitoring your oral health. This also allows Dr. Gardner to prevent small issues from getting worse.
