Dr. Paul Chaiken and his entire staff are wonderful! They are warm and welcoming and the office is very relaxed. Dr. Chaiken fit me in his schedule quickly for a severe tooth ache and took plenty of time to explain his suggested procedure and made sure I was very comfortable. He called me that evening to make sure everything was OK. When I call the office, every staff member is friendly and helpful. Thank you North Dental Professionals!

I've been a patient at North Dental Professionals for almost a decade now and have NEVER had a bad experience. The staff feel like family. They get to really know you, take interest in your well-being, and genuinely care. We laugh and share personal stories in between the cleanings, x-rays, and procedures. They take the time to discuss your dental hygiene in detail and create a plan that really works for each individual. It's such a wonderful environment. I would recommend everyone trust their oral care to these professionals!!! Truly one of a kind service.

What We Can Do to Solve Your Dental Emergency

If you have a dental emergency, don't let it get worse. These things hurt, and whether it's a seemingly small issue like a toothache or a larger one, like a root canal or tooth knockout, you will experience a more complicated scenario if you don't take action in time. A dentist like Dr. Chaiken can help even at the early stages, fixing the problem and helping you have healthier teeth afterward. These dental problems include:

  • Toothaches: Most of us have been there before. Our teeth hurt, sometimes without an obvious reason, and it gets in the way of us functioning properly. This pain prevents us from eating, brushing, or flossing, and it can be bad enough to be constantly present, even with painkillers. Expecting it to go away on its own prevents the deeper issue from being addressed and only prolongs our suffering. Instead, trust Dr. Chaiken to determine the cause of the pain and put a stop to it.
  • Gum pain: Gum pain can hurt just as much as any toothache, and they're often the result of a bacterial infection. If not stopped, these infections can spread throughout the mouth, creating more damage and causing more pain. Dr. Paul Chaiken can get rid of both the infection and the pain at once.
  • Swollen jaw: Like gum pain, a swollen jaw usually comes from a bacterial infection, and this infection is also capable of spreading. However, your jaw is a vital part of your dental system, and this infection can reach the surrounding tissue in addition to the gums and teeth. Your dentist will get rid of this infection for you before more damage can occur.
  • Tooth damage: Chips and cracks in the teeth can come from facial trauma or eating hard foods. While small damages might not seem like a big deal as long as the rest of the tooth is safe, it's still always best to see a professional about it to ensure it won't lead to greater damages later. If necessary, your dentist can repair the tooth or even replace it outright, depending on the severity of the issue.
  • Tooth loss: In some unfortunate cases, damage to the jaw or internal decay is as severe as to cause the tooth to fall out entirely. This isn't only painful but also dangerous, as the empty socket is exposed to bacteria and further injury. In the case of a knockout tooth, a dentist should be contacted immediately. Dr. Paul Chaiken will clean out the damaged area and replace your tooth for you.
  • Crown or filling loss: Like with teeth themselves, your crowns and fillings can be lost due to damage. They can also fall out on their own if made from cheap metal rather than one designed to withstand time and bacteria. When this happens, it's painful and opens your teeth up to further decay and damage that the fillings were originally intended to stop. Dr. Paul Chaiken can get these replaced and clear out the damage as well.
  • Root canal: Severe decay needs to be cleaned out to protect your teeth from further damage. This procedure is one that's necessary but not particularly enjoyable due to how uncomfortable it can be. You can trust Dr. Paul Chaiken to treat the damage quickly and with as little discomfort or stress as possible.

Avoiding a Dental Emergency

While it's good to have someone to call when an emergency hits, it's better to be prepared and have ways of avoiding an emergency altogether. It's not possible to be safe one hundred percent of the time; however, taking the necessary precautions can minimize your risk and keep you healthy for longer. Make sure to always brush and floss properly, avoid foods that are too tough to chew, and visit your normal dentist regularly to stay on top of everything.
