Emergency Dental Services We Provide

Many different types of dental emergencies are difficult to manage. For example, you might have a toothache that will not go away, or you could have a chipped tooth that's causing you pain. No matter the cause of your oral issue, Dr. Thames and the rest of the team at Urgent Dental Clinics can provide several different services to relieve your pain and restore your oral health.

The services we provide include:

  • Toothache Relief - Many patients who have come in have ignored the early signs of a toothache. This likely has led to more extensive issues, as toothaches are usually a sign that there's a larger concern that needs to be examined. Over-the-counter medications are effective for short-term relief, but we don't recommend using these as a long-term solution. If you have a persistent toothache and need help, we can find the cause of the pain and provide permanent relief.
  • Jaw Swelling Reduction - Your oral health doesn't only involve your teeth and gums. Your jawbone and surrounding tissue are also a support system for your teeth. If you notice swelling in your jaw, there might be an infection that could spread throughout the jawbone and into neighboring tissue. It's imperative that you find and treat the cause of the infection to preserve your dental health.
  • Gum Pain - If you are experiencing gum pain, Dr. Thames can help you identify the cause of the pain and provide relief. Gum pain is usually a sign that there's a problem in the deeper tissue of the gums, and our team can help relieve your pain.
  • Root Canals - This service can save teeth that are decayed or damaged. For most patients, the tooth or teeth in question previously needed fillings or crowns. Root canals attempt to restore the connection between the tooth and root in the jawbone. This can provide pain relief and prevent the need for tooth extraction.
  • Avulsed and Damaged Tooth Care - This is also referred to as a “knockout.” This situation occurs due to an accident such as a sports injury or an automobile accident. If one of your teeth gets knocked out, you should seek professional care as soon as possible. This is so a dentist can examine the socket for further damage. In some cases, the tooth that was knocked out can be restored and saved. Other dental damage that can occur includes breaks, chips, or cracks. Every situation is different, and we recommend seeking professional care if any of them happen to you.
  • Extractions - If one or more of your teeth are severely damaged or decayed, you run the risk of an infection spreading throughout your mouth. In this case, fully removing the tooth might be your best choice. Extractions help protect your other teeth from infection and can provide immediate pain relief.
  • Filling and Crown Repair - Fillings and crowns are designed to protect teeth that have needed dental work in the past. However, these can become loose and fall out of your mouth. You should seek professional care as soon as possible if you experience this, as leaving it alone could cause further damage.

How to Avoid Dental Emergencies

Dental emergencies can take a toll on your physical and mental health. Not all emergencies are avoidable, but many can be prevented with proper dental care. By maintaining a regular schedule of brushing and flossing, you can protect your teeth and gums from infection and damage.

We also recommend scheduling regular six-month appointments with Urgent Dental Clinics. This will allow us to provide professional cleaning services while monitoring your oral health. By visiting regularly, Dr. Thames will be able to stop minor issues from getting worse.
