We Handle All Types of Dental Emergencies

When it comes to dental emergencies, don’t wait to get the care you need. Without the proper treatment, dental problems will only continue to worsen. At Milestones Children and Family Dentistry, we can help with all types of dental emergencies, including:

Extractions

Emergency extractions are often an aspect of dental emergencies. The procedure involves completely removing a problematic tooth that may be causing pain or damage. Problems such as severe decay, physical trauma to the tooth, serious infection, or impacted teeth can all require an emergency extraction. If you’re experiencing any of these issues, contact our emergency dentist to see if the tooth in question should be removed or restored.

Root Canal

Root canals are a dental procedure that can treat issues related to problematic fillings, cracked or chipped teeth, deep cavities, or advanced decay. If you notice discolored teeth, extreme pain, or infection, these may be signs you need an emergency root canal performed. Get your teeth examined at the earliest opportunity if you notice these symptoms.

Filling Repair

Emergency filling repair is a common procedure due to how frequently fillings fail. Because fillings can loosen or fall out for a variety of reasons, it’s important to go to your dentist regularly to make sure everything is in place and functioning properly. When you lose a filling, or if a filled tooth is causing pain, schedule an emergency dentist appointment ASAP to have it taken care of.

Crown Repair

A lost or damaged crown can be painful. It can also lead to additional tooth and gum damage when not addressed quickly. Crowns can come loose for a variety of reasons, such as physical trauma to the head or advanced decay in the treated tooth. It’s important to seek professional help for crown issues immediately, because the tooth becomes more susceptible to bacteria and infection when the crown is missing or damaged.

Cracked Teeth

Cracked teeth can occur for a variety of reasons and, even if they don’t cause any immediate pain, can quickly worsen. If you have a cracked tooth, it’s important to seek dental help quickly so it doesn’t suffer additional damage. Cracked teeth are also highly susceptible to infection, and this risk increases the longer they are left untreated. If you think have a cracked tooth, contact our patient care line at (813) 423-6445 right away.

Severe Toothaches

Almost everyone has experienced a toothache in their lives. But when you’re experiencing constant, exceedingly painful toothaches, there is likely a serious underlying cause to the problem. If you are experiencing a consistent, severe toothache that won’t go away, make an emergency dental appointment to have it examined.

Gum Swelling and Pain

Gum swelling can be caused by multiple problematic issues. Impacted teeth, infection, or even gum disease can cause swelling in the gums and discomfort. If you’re experiencing gum swelling or persistent gum pain, you should have it examined by a professional as soon as possible.

Jaw Swelling and Pain

Swollen jaws can cause great pain and discomfort. They occur when something causes the jaws to become inflamed so fluid begins to gather on or around them. Jaw swelling can be caused by issues like severe decay, infection, serious damage to the tooth or jaw itself, or impacted teeth. If you’re dealing with jaw swelling, schedule an emergency appoint ASAP.

Broken Teeth

Broken teeth need immediate care. When the inside of a tooth is exposed, it’s much more susceptible to bacteria and infection. A broken tooth can be caused by simple things like chewing on hard food, or more serious events like an accident involving a blow to the face. Regardless of how your tooth broke, it’s essential to seek professional care as soon as possible.

“Emergency dental repair” refers to any aspect of dentistry that a patient needs done immediately to protect their oral health, from a chipped tooth to a one that has completely fallen out.
