Dental injuries and emergencies can arise from many unpredictable situations. You may have suffered a traumatic injury, a sports-related accident, or a household mishap that resulted in a dental emergency. Whatever the case may be, it’s important to realize that there is an inherent risk of dental injury in various situations. However, there are some steps you can take to reduce the risk of sustaining a dental injury.
First, proper daily oral hygiene provides a long-term defense against some of the most common causes of dental emergencies, such as cavities, gingivitis, and other oral health conditions. Brushing, flossing, and using a fluoride rinse are some of the most common steps you can take every day to preserve your dental health. Seeing a dentist on a regular basis for exams and cleanings, typically twice each year, is another great way to keep track of your dental health and to identify any risk factors or indicators of dental health conditions.
If you enjoy sports and outdoor activity, wearing a properly fitted mouthguard is another way you can potentially prevent or at least minimize many dental emergencies. Your mouthguard acts as a shock absorber, and it may help to prevent serious injuries from traumatic accidents. The team at the Harlem Center for Aesthetic Dentistry can recommend specific steps you can take to reduce your risk of experiencing a dental emergency based on your unique needs.
A: Emergency medical treatment tends to be a bit more expensive than standard care due to the speed and responsiveness required for many medical emergencies. However, you can rest assured that the Harlem Center for Aesthetic Dentistry offers reasonable and competitive pricing for all emergency dental services we offer.
A: You will need to review your individual dental insurance policy to determine which emergency care options are covered, and our team will work together with you to help you minimize your out-of-pocket expense whenever possible.
A: The Harlem Center for Aesthetic Dentistry offers accessible emergency treatment hours, from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
