Emergency Procedures Performed

At Wurzbach Parkway Family Dental, we perform a wide range of emergency dental services. We strive to ensure that your pain is alleviated, your issue is properly addressed, and you are given the tools to go back to your routine as quickly as possible. Our services include:

  • Jaw swelling or pain. If you notice jaw swelling or tenderness, this can be a sign of possible infection along the bone and tissues supporting your teeth. It is important to have this assessed quickly so that proper medication can be prescribed and Dr. Klenke can discover the root of the problem.
  • Severe toothaches. When you experience a toothache, it can interfere with simple pleasures such as drinking a cold glass of water, or it could be a dull ache throughout your entire day. Either way, it is important to have the underlying problem examined as toothaches are often part of a larger issue.
  • Filling repair. A filling can become loose or even fall out completely. This often can occur while eating and can cause an unpleasant rise in sensitivity. When not addressed quickly, the tooth can begin to decay. Our office will be able to quickly clean the area, assess any new decay, replace the filling, and have you back to your routine.
  • Crown repair. Losing a crown can cause a lot of pain and discomfort. Since the crown is molded to your tooth, this could be a sign that the tooth is experiencing further decay. Your dentist will be able to reshape or replace your crown, ensuring the health of the tooth.
  • Extractions. Our experienced team will always do what we can to protect your natural teeth. With that said, there are instances where tooth extraction is best to protect other surrounding teeth. Teeth can become extremely decayed or damaged, which can lead to infection. This could require the need to have the tooth removed completely to prevent infection from spreading.
  • Dental repair. Several accidents could require dental repair. This is usually in the form of a tooth becoming chipped, cracked, broken, or completely knocked out. It is important to have these damages assessed to ensure you receive proper treatment. Treatment can vary, depending on the severity of the situation.
  • Gum discomfort. If you notice tenderness in your gums, this is often a signal that something is wrong in the deeper tissues of the gums. At Wurzbach Parkway Family Dental, we can assess the true cause and provide the proper treatment plan.
  • Root canal procedures. Instances like a knock-out, repeat fillings, or other instances of decay or damage can lead to the necessity of having root canal therapy performed. This procedure helps to keep and protect your natural tooth.

Steps to Avoid an Emergency Dental Appointment

No one enjoys a dental emergency. While some emergencies are unavoidable, many can be prevented when following certain steps. Your first step is proper dental hygiene at home. Keeping up with brushing and flossing helps you to better assess changes to your teeth and gums. Your next step is scheduling and maintaining regular checkups every six months. This allows Dr. Klenke and his team the ability to keep a track record of your oral health. They will have an easier time tracking changes, which can help stop a little problem before it becomes a larger emergency.

Another great step to avoiding an emergency dental appointment is to consider your odds of experiencing an emergency. If you are in a high-contact, high-impact sport, it may be beneficial to invest in a custom dental guard. This preemptive measure can protect your teeth from cracks, breaks, and full blow-outs that can cause damage to your tissues, nerves, and blood vessels surrounding the area.
