Emergency Services Available

Every dental crisis is unique. It could be a problem that you've been putting off for some time, such as a toothache that has become more persistent. It could also be an abrupt emergency, such as a ball hitting you in the face while playing basketball with friends and you feel a tooth become loose. Whatever the reason, we have the skills and experience necessary to successfully treat your dental emergency. Our services include:

  • Toothache relief- A toothache might start as a minor inconvenience, but when left untreated it can become a persistent problem that interferes with eating and drinking. Toothaches are usually a symptom of a larger concern that needs to be addressed to provide permanent relief.
  • Gum Pain Relief- Pain or tenderness in your gums is often a warning sign of an issue that is in the deeper tissue of the gums. Dr. Abusalum will be able to find the true cause of your discomfort and treat it appropriately.
  • Jaw Swelling- Any swelling of your face, especially along the jaw is often caused by an infection. This infection could spread along the jawline and the supporting tissue which could hurt your overall dental health. It is important to have this infection treated as quickly as possible.
  • Avulsed Tooth- Accidents are the most common cause of a tooth becoming avulsed, also known as ‘knocked out.' This can happen from an unexpected blow to the face, jaw, or mouth. Immediate care can help to reintroduce the tooth when possible. It is also important to have a full examination to check for any further damage to the socket and surrounding tissue. Other tooth damage includes chips, cracks, or breaks. While not as severe as a knocked-out tooth, they should still be examined to determine the next best step for your oral health.
  • Root Canal- This service is commonly performed on a tooth that has suffered severe damage or decay, or has needed multiple fillings or crowns. This service can help to protect your natural smile by avoiding the need for an extraction.
  • Filling or Crown Replacement- If a filling or crown becomes loose it can fall out unexpectedly, often while eating. This can cause immediate discomfort since the sensitive areas of your teeth are now exposed. It is important to have these replaced as quickly as possible to avoid any further decay.
  • Extractions- An extraction may be necessary when a tooth becomes too damaged to restore and poses a risk of infection. Any infection in one tooth can easily spread to others. Extractions help to stop the spread of infection and alleviate any pain associated with that tooth.

Preventing Emergency Dental Services

An emergency dental service can feel overwhelming. You are likely in pain and unsure of what work will need to be done to provide relief. While not all dental emergencies can be avoided, many can with proper dental hygiene. Decay is a lead contributor to a variety of dental concerns. Proper brushing and flossing can help protect your teeth from the devastating effects of decay. Another great way to prevent the need for emergency service is to schedule regular cleaning services with Dr. Abusalum. Six-month appointments help us keep track of your dental health. This allows us to spot any inconsistencies that could turn into a significant problem if not treated.
